Bhaiṣajyaguru- doctor Buddha. His mythology dates back to early Buddhism, but its origin is unclear, perhaps it is associated with texts where the historical Buddha is described as a doctor who came to heal the diseases of the world. Sometimes, especially in the iconography of East Asia, when depicting Bhaiṣajyaguru, his alms bowl is replaced by a jar of medicine; in Tibetan images, a plant of mirobalans, which is considered a panacea, grows from a bowl. Translated from Sanskrit, bhai bajya can mean: healing, healing efficiency; ceremony performed as a medicine.
